# Authentication

All our focus is concentrated on the authentication of the watches and accessories we receive in our warehouses.

### Process

When your watch arrives at our warehouse, a watchmaker takes charge of the package and ensures that the watch matches the information you have previously registered.

Once the watch is confirmed to be in compliance, the watchmaker checks in the [Enquirus ](https://www.enquirus.com/en/how-it-works)database to see if the watch is reported as stolen or lost.

Afterward, the authentication process can start. Our watchmakers have access to a computer system that enables them to follow the steps during authentication and confirm that the various checkpoints are completed. Here are the checkpoints:

1. External watch inspection:
   * Weight of the watch
   * Case finishes and dimensions, hallmarks
   * Dial, index, hands, inscriptions check
   * Verification of watch functions, mechanical feel
   * Waterproof and watch performance test
   * Bracelet finishes and hallmarks check
   * Serial number engravings check
2. Internal watch inspection:
   * Movement finishes, engravings, decoration, synthetic stones check
   * Balance wheel spiral inspection
   * Serial number verification
3. Accessory inspection:
   * Examination of the box (size, material, correspondence with the model)
   * Verification of original documents

Additional checks are carried out based on the brand and model, using security points established by the brands.

In cases of authenticity doubt, a second in-house watchmaker is responsible for reviewing the process and providing an opinion. In some cases, we may use authentic similar models we possess for comparisons or seek an additional opinion from an external provider. If doubts about the watch's authenticity persist despite these measures, we will not accept the watch, and it will be returned to the owner without any sanctions.

Once the authentication of the watch is completed, the watchmaker will be responsible for taking four photos of the watch. Before the token is issued, a check will be performed by the manager to ensure that all information matches the watch. Once the check is completed, the watchmaker responsible for authentication and the manager will sign the smart contract to issue the token and transfer it to the owner's virtual wallet.

After the token is issued, the watchmaker will program an RFID tag containing the watch's information and the ID number linked to the token. Then, they will attach the tag to the watch so that we can track its location in our inventory and have continuous monitoring.

### Watchmaker

Being based in Geneva, the capital of watchmaking, our watchmakers come directly from prestigious watch manufacturers such as Rolex, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, as well as from watch boutiques and auction houses. This enables us to have the best watchmakers capable of authenticating watches that hold no secrets for them.

### Tolerance

No tolerance is accepted for the authentication of a watch. If even a single checkpoint indicates that the watch is not authentic, it will be rejected. At the end of the process, the watchmaker will receive an indication via the computer panel corresponding to the indications he filled in during the verification process. The watchmaker has the final say, and watches that do not pass the 100% authenticity compliance will not be accepted, and [sanctions ](/zwapx/use/tokenization.md#sanctions)will be imposed.

### Certificate

At the end of the process, a certificate of authenticity is issued, including the watch's information and details of the authentication process that was conducted. It also contains relevant explanations or remarks from the watchmaker responsible for authentication and their signature, certifying the validity of the certificate.
